The compact Orion 150mm Mak-Cass Telescope Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) opens up new vistas of the celestial landscape for your viewing pleasure, putting superior resolving power at your disposal. The optical tube’s 150mm-diameter (5.9″) Maksutov-Cassegrain optics take in 40% more light than its 127mm counterpart, which means this big Mak will resolve finer detail in lunar and planetary subjects and permit exploration of a wider array of deep-sky objects. Thanks to its combination of long focal length and substantial aperture, this compact catadioptric telescope delivers exceptionally crisp, high-power views of the Moon and planets, as well as smaller deep space objects like globular clusters and brighter planetary nebulas. This Mak-Cass OTA is an ideal high-power specialist for both observational astronomy and astrophotography. Not limited solely to nighttime activities, the versatile 150mm f/12 Mak-Cass OTA can be used during the day for great terrestrial views when used with optional eyepieces and a 45-deg correct-image diagonal (sold separately). The 150mm Mak-Cass telescope’s meniscus lens is fully multi-coated for maximum light transmission so views and images are delightfully sharp and high in contrast. Its long focal length of 1800mm (f/12.0) belies the telescope’s compact tube, which measures just 17.75″ long (including visual back), for excellent portability. The telescope’s 2″ visual back and included 1.25″ step-down adapter allows use of both 2″ and 1.25″ size diagonals, eyepieces and accessories (all accessories sold separately). The sturdy aluminum Orion 150mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope Optical Tube is outfitted with rugged metal front and rear cells. With its low-maintenance, closed-tube design, you won’t have to worry about collimation adjustments since the 150mm Mak-Cass optics are permanently and precisely aligned at the factory. Weighs just 11.5 lbs.
