Not all straps are created equal. Some are better suited to light-duty activities; others are water resistant; and others still are best for heavy-duty applications. The characteristics of a strap are largely determined by its webbing, the material used to wrap around an object. If you are looking for a strap with great strength and unparalleled abrasion, flat nylon is the webbing material for you. Flat nylon webbing is great for high abrasion applications or when paired up with a cam or ratchet buckle. Nylon 2-inch webbing is also preferred for use on humans or animals because it has a soft feel to it and won’t chafe or cut. Many of our customers here at Strapworks even use nylon belting material for fashion design. 2-Inch Flat Nylon facts: Thickness of 0.070 to 0.075 of an inch Breaking strength of 5500 pounds (maximum recommended working load 1850 pounds) Melting point of 380 degrees Fahrenheit Available in 24 colors Flat nylon straps are ideally suited for leashes, collars, leads, D-ring belts, cam straps and other similar materials. If you need a heavy-duty material with great strength and dependability then this is your webbing! Nylon webbing is not particularly good in wet applications because it stretches when wet, gaining about 2 percent in length over time. This means that a nylon strap will not stay tight in the rain or on a river trip. However, it is suitable for dry applications and comes in a full range of fun and bright colors that many enjoy. In addition to our 2-inch nylon webbing products, we also carry flat nylon webbing in 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/2-inch widths.
