The 10×42 Geovid HD-B Rangefinder Binocular from Leicafuses the image quality of a fully multicoated optical path with thefunctionality of a 2000-yard laser rangefinder and integrated ballisticscomputer. Using an array of built-in sensors thiselectro-optic measures the ambient atmospheric conditions as well as theshooter’s angle relative to the target. By compiling data fromthe laser rangefinder and environmental sensors the ballistics computerwill calculate several values that can help improve shot placement.Leica’sAdvanced Ballistic Compensation (ABC) technology combines temperatureand air pressure readings with rangefinder data zeroing distance anduser-defined ballistics curve to calculate ballistic compensationvalues. To maximize the accuracy of compensation values the Geovid HD-Ballows the shooter to input their rifle’s zero distance and select aballistics curve corresponding to the chambered round. The HD-B ispre-loaded with 12 ABC ballistics curves for various calibers andweights and alternative ballistics curves can be stored and uploadedusing the included microSD card. An in-view LED display allows theobserver to view the calculated ABC values without taking their eyes offthe visual scene.Like other Geovid series binoculars theHD-B model has a nitrogen-filled fogproof housing as well as fullymulticoated fluoride glass lenses that transmit luminous and colorfaithful images. Leica’s phase-corrected Perger Porro prism designmerges the benefits of roof and Porro designs delivering a streamlinedform factor without sacrificing depth of field or color fidelity.Exposed lens surfaces are finished with Leica’s proprietary High Durable(HDC) and AquaDura lens coatings which repel moisture and prevent dirtfrom adhering to the glass. These features add up to a multi-purposehandheld optic that is built for unforgiving weather conditions and lowlight performance.
