With a very positive feedback for the prototype Porsche decided to manufacture 918 units of the car. Replacing the Carerra GT it adopted a more hybrid technology. Its atmospheric V8 engine of 608 horsepower was backed up with two electrical engines of 129 and 156 horsepower bringing the total to 887. In doing so Porsche had produced not a super car but a hyper car capable of hitting 345 km/h. It was marketed in 2016 at the modest price of 800 000 euros.
