Everybody’s crazy about Pinot Noir lately, and for good reason. It’s light-bodied but complex, drinkable when young, even better with age. And St. Innocent Temperance Hill is a showstopping example. Mellow yet complex, it’s got a lot of dark cherry and berry fruitiness, but with intriguing smoke and spice. Soft tannins (you know, that create that slightly puckery feeling inside your cheeks?) make it a food-friendly wine, without being too dry. It’s spectacular right now and will only get better with age. (Like us.) Interesting tidbit: The certified-organic grapes come from 2 blocks of a small vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills district of the Willamette Valley. tip of the tongue This wine is amazing with simple grilled meat, fish and vegetables.
