This luxurious woollen throw on woolen wrap is inspired by the scarf worn by Gandalf the Grey in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Created by Stansborough, the company that made the original item for the movie’s costume department, the cloak measures 56 x 74 inches. The special lustrous natural grey fibres and yarns were originally conceived by Stansborough for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and are also featured in our popular Hobbit Scarf. This cloak has additional threads of ‘mithril’ (fine metallic thread) woven into the fabric to make it shine like moonlit silver. Interestingly, the sheep from which the wool was shorn are known as Stansborough Grey, a unique registered breed with historical connections to breeds kept by the Vikings in Scandinavia. The wool is then traditionally woven on historic looms dating back to the 1890’s, right in Middle-earth (New Zealand). The garment is totally pure, natural and chemical free and made to the highest quality to enjoy for many years to come. The cloak throw comes stylishly presented in a cardboard box, with tissue, authentic Hobbit Hang Tag, The Stansborough story, and a scroll.
