Guardian of the sacred west direction, this hand carved Zuni Rock Bear with Bundle Fetishes symbolizes the bear’s gifts of strength, healing and power. Shaped from a kind of travertine (Zuni rock) locally harvested and prepared by Zuni artisan Freddie Leekya, this bear fetish carries a bundle composed of two or more of the following: genuine shell, turquoise, and coral. Leekya learned his craft from his father, who in turn learned it from his father, renowned fetish artisan Leekya Deyuse. Hand carved from natural stone, each will be one of a kind.
